Danone began operating in Indonesia in 1998 by the execution of a strategic alliance with AQUA, Indonesian bottled drinking water brand launched in 1973. Through this partnership, AQUA strengthened its market positioning, becoming Indonesia’s largest bottled drinking water manufacturer. In 2005, Danone Indonesia launched Mizone, a roll-out from the success story of a beverage brand started in China.

Aside from its water business, Danone established Infant Nutrition Division in Indonesia in 2008 through acquisition of Royal Numico NV, which included PT Sari Husada and PT Nutricia Indonesia Sejahtera. PT Sari Husada was the pioneer in the development and production of formula milk in Indonesia, with its legendary brand, SGM, launched in 1965.

Currently, Danone Indonesia is represented by 4 corporates operating in 3 main business categories:

  1. PT Tirta Investama, operating in Water business, the manufacturer of AQUA and Mizone.
  2. PT Sarihusada Generasi Mahardhika, operating in Early Life Nutrition business, the manufacturer of SGM Eksplor and Lactamil.
  3. PT Nutricia Indonesia Sejahtera, operating in Early Life Nutrition, the manufacturer of Bebelac and Nutrilon Royal
  4. Nutricia Medical Nutrition, operating in Medical Nutrition business, the manufacturer of Neocate and Nutrini Drink.
